Newlife Women's Ministries
Our church has a very active and enthusiastic Women’s Ministry Team which provides opportunities for not only Christian education and bible study, but also for recreation and socializing.
A number of study and prayer groups meet during the week, both during the days and also the evenings. The contact for these is Melissa Lipsett, melissa@newlife.unitingchurch.org.au, 07-55789322.
‘Women to Women’ is a specialized educational group experience. It is a 10 week program that looks at a variety of issues affecting many women and is aimed at helping women to ‘do life better.’ The program is usually held twice each year, with groups being held both during the day and in the evening. Further information can be obtained from Melissa Lipsett, melissa@newlife.unitingchurch.org.au, 07-55789322.
Although ‘Playgroups’ welcome all carers, regardless of their gender, and their children, it is fair to say that most participants are Mums, Grandmothers and other female carers. Playgroups are held four mornings each week during school terms on Monday through Thursday. A full morning of activity is provided as well as the opportunity to relax over morning tea with other carers. Our playgroups are well known on the Coast as being magnificently equipped, friendly and fully child safe. Sue Cameron is our Playgroup Coordinator and you may contact her for further information, suecameron1966@hotmail.com, 07-55932325 or at the office on 07- 55789322.
‘Creative Connections’ is a craft group that meets on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Wednesday of each month during term times. Here, you may learn a variety of new craft skills such as jewellery making, embroidery and other needle work, or catch up on an unfinished project of your own. A great time is had over morning tea and lots of chat! Contact Melissa Lipsett for more details, melissa@newlife.unitingchurch.org.au, 07-55789322.
Numerous social occasions are held during the year including breakfasts, lunches and dinner, movie and other outings and the like. A full calendar of upcoming events is available from the office.
Finally, you will not want to miss the ‘Annual Ladies Retreat’ which is held on the second weekend of September each year. This is a fantastic weekend of teaching, fellowship and fun – a great blend of learning and relaxation. Meryem Brown, who is a very highly regarded Christian psychologist in practice with her husband Greg, will be our speaker again this year due to the overwhelming positive response to her input in 2007. She is a delightful lady who brings a wealth of knowledge, wisdom and personal experience. Further details can be obtained from Mary-Anne Rulfs, marulfs@fastmail.fm.
