Small Groups
Hundreds of people in our church meet in small groups that occur nearly every day of the week, during the day and the eveneing.
Small groups are where we ‘do life’ together. We share, we pray and we reflect together on what God teaches us in the bible. We use a wide array of bible study materials – including books and DVD teaching.
Some groups meet at the church. Most meet in people’s homes. In a large church like ours, small groups are the best way of connecting with people.
We have groups for men, women and for men and women; groups for young adults, families and seniors. And if we don’t currently have a group that suits you, we will do our best to establish one that does!
If you would like to join a small group, contact Melissa Lipsett, melissa@newlife.unitingchurch.org.au, 07-55789322.
In addition to our regular small groups we have a number of programs that have a small group component that run at different times of the year. These programs include:
Alpha
Alpha is a dynamic 8 week course for anyone interested in finding out more about the Christian faith. Good food, DVD teaching, small group discussion and friendship are the mainstays of an Alpha evening. We have courses for adults, young adults, mothers of young children and teenagers. For further information contact our office at, admin@newlife.unitingchurch.org.au, 07-5578-9322.
You can also visit the International Alpha website (based in London) for more information about Alpha.
Daily Bible Reading
We encourage everyone to engage in the discipline of daily bible reading. Upper Room, Daily Bread and Everyday with Jesus are daily bible reading resources available from our bookshop. We also have a range of bibles for all ages for sale.
Bethel Bible studies
Bethel is an overview of the whole Bible very suitable for people who have just completed Alpha. We look at the Old Testament in three 8-week segments over the year, and the following year we do the New Testament in the same way. During 2008 we are studying the New Testament. For further information contact our office at, admin@newlife.unitingchurch.org.au, 07-5578-9322.
‘Know Your Bible’ (KYB)
KYB is an Evangelical Interdenominational International Movement providing a bible based teaching and study program for women. The course aims to help deepen and enrich the spiritual lives of women (anywhere and everywhere) and to help them cope with life, enabling them to play a more effective role in the church and to serve the Lord more effectively.
